Ridesharing Campaign

A brief description of the campaign (1st campaign):

Monthly parking and transportation emails are sent to the college community (students and employees). Monthly newsletters from our local transportation management association, Ridewise, are sent to employees monthly. Three registered carpool parking spaces were established and promoted to students. (RideWise registers the carpools and provides registration placards.) A carpool-formation meeting was held for employees in fall 2013.


A brief description of the measured positive impact(s) of the campaign (1st campaign):

In fall 2014, there are at least 3 registered carpools. The transportation survey shows that ridesharing is up from 14% to 23%. Bus ridership increased from 2% to 3%.

Electric Car Campaign

A brief description of the campaign (2nd campaign):

Two electric car charging stations were installed on campus. There is a small connection fee but the electricity itself is free, and the chargers are available to the public. For Earth Week, we had an electric car show to promote the car chargers. The car chargers were also featured in a Campus Sustainability Day talk entitled "Our Green Campus."

Two employees now have electric cars and drive them to campus regularly.
