Total full-time equivalent student enrollment:
8,489
Full-time equivalent of employees:
1,450
Part 1. Student commute modal split
Yes
Total percentage of students that use more sustainable commuting options as their primary mode of transportation:
60
A brief description of the method(s) used to gather data about student commuting:
During the Spring 2022 semester, a senior Geospatial Science major, under the supervision of Dr. Stockton Maxwell, completed an internship project by conducting a commuter survey for all faculty, staff, and students. The survey uses the home addresses of all commuter parking pass holders (student commuters, faculty, and staff), and maps and records mileage of each pass holder.
Students can purchase commuter parking passes or residential parking passes. With 3232 students living on campus, that leaves 2049 students commuting, and 823 (40%) of them purchased commuter parking passes. The survey assumes that commuter students, averaging a 32 mile, one-way commute, make two trips per day, five days per week, for 15 weeks per semester. The vast majority of the remaining students live within a mile of campus, or in apartments along bus, bike, and walking routes.
