Has the institution banned or eliminated the on-site sales and distribution of at least one type of single-use disposable plastic?:
Yes
A brief description of the single-use disposable plastics that have been banned or eliminated:
On March 23, 2021, Governor Ralph Northam signed Executive Order 77, aimed at reducing Virginia’s reliance on single-use plastics and reducing waste sent to landfills. The order puts the Commonwealth on a path to eliminate most single-use plastics at state agencies, colleges and universities, imposing a near-term ban on several common, but unnecessary disposable plastics and requiring the phase out of other items by 2025.
There are several "cessation of use" single use plastic items that Radford University has eliminated from campus operations, including single use plastic water bottles, single use plastic takeout containers and cutlery, single use plastic grocery bags, and single use plastic straws. Supply chain shortages have impacted the University's ability to provide acceptable alternatives to these products at all times.
