A brief description of the student educators program (1st program):
Radford Sustainability Interns work as a team to communicate the message of sustainability through project implementation and outreach on campus. Sustainability interns will help increase sustainable practices on campus, promote student behavior change, educate the Radford community about sustainability, and create programs and carry out sustainability projects at Radford University.

The Sustainability Leadership Team internship program is a year-long program with 4 primary focus areas: Sustainability Literacy, Sustainability Project Management, Leadership for Sustainability, and Education and Outreach. Interns are expected to contribute approximately 6 hours per week to the program. Weekly plenary meetings are supplemented by project team meetings as needed and students complete weekly assignments focusing on sustainability issues, professional development, and campus outreach.

All interns participate in multiple outreach events annually. Examples of this programming include: Halloween Sustainability Outreach (What are you afraid of?); Virtual Campus Sustainability Tour; Earth Week events; recycling education programs in campus common spaces, and Sustainable Dining and food waste education with Dining Services in our main Dining Hall, interns conduct a food waste audits (pre-COVID) and provide sustainable dining information to students and employees.

Campus outreach is one key component of the internship program, but not the entire focus of the program. For the purpose of this credit, 20% of intern activities are dedicated to outreach (training and implementation).
