Committee Function:
Sustainability is one of Radford University’s Core Values. The Sustainability Steering Committee aims to fulfill the University’s commitment to sustainability by collaborating to advance the Climate Action Plan and Campus Sustainability Policy.
Charges
• Be creative, innovative, and bold in recommending a course of action that will reduce our environmental footprint and bring recognition to our University as a leader in sustainability.
• Strive to make Radford University the most sustainable campus in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
• In accordance with the American College & University Presidents’ Climate Commitment (ACUPCC), the committee will serve as the institutional structure to guide the implementation of the University’s Climate Action Plan in pursuit of the goals committed to in the ACUPCC.

Josh Nease, Radford University Sustainability Manager, serves as chair of the Sustainability Steering Committee and is charged with coordinating with the Committee and other campus partners to advance progress on the University's Climate Action Plan. Josh assumed this role on July 25, 2016 and began building a sustainability office to achieve the aforementioned goals.
Accomplishments:
Establishment of Sustainability Steering Committee in Fall 2016
Update Climate Action Plan: first update since 2013
Addition of outdoor recycling bins for campus
Creation and successful implementation of Sustainability Leadership Team internship program
Creation and implementation of Eco-Reps/Sustainability Ambassadors program and Highlander Cup Residence Hall Sustainability Competition
Facilitated first "Sustainability Across Curriculum" workshop, providing financial incentives for faculty who participate and complete curriculum revisions
Complete commuter survey for Greenhouse Gas Inventory and 2 Greenhouse Gas Inventories
Transition to Single Stream Recycling on campus
