Quinnipiac currently follows state and local laws regarding rainwater management. More specifically, the university follows the guidelines that there cannot be more runoff post-construction than there was pre-construction. During construction, QU has adopted LID practices such as a system of rainwater collection that includes collection on the roofs which goes down through a pipe system to a basin under the building in conjunction with its committment to all new construction being LEED certified. For example, QU's green infrastructure consists of diverse rain gardens with native plants as well as a habitat development area marked off as a “Inland Wetland Conservation Area”.
The university is in the process of adopting a comprehensive rainwater management plan (attached below). This is in process, but not yet formally adopted as of the date of this report.
