A brief description of the student educators program (1st program):

The student educators' program at Quinnipiac is the new Eco Rep Program by the Quinnipiac University Sustainability Implementation Committee and Student Government. The Eco-Rep program educates students on the sustainability features on campus, and prepares them to take leadership positions as peer educators and leaders across campus, to encourage and facilitate action promoting sustainability in the organizations and associations they participate in. The first cohort of Eco-Reps includes a number of student mentors in our new residential building, The Grove, which houses first year students. These peer educators will be working with students on campus sustainability projects over the remainder of this academic year. These can include planting trees, building and planting garden beds, investigating projects to reduce our waste stream and single-use plastics on campus, and social media engagement.

A brief description of the student educators program’s target audience (1st program):

Student educators are student leaders from across the university, and are intended to work “in place” in their academic programs and co/extra curricular organizations and associations.  The first cohort, certified in January 2025, includes a number of mentors who are working with first year students in a new residence hall that cultivates student activism on campus.
