Academics

1) Introduce new majors in Environmental Policy and Science. We introduced two new majors and a co-major.
2) Build on audits of environmental expertise to increase environmentally themed course options in the University Curriculum.
3) Introduce environment and sustainability knowledge into the structure of Essential Learning Outcomes (ELOs) used to assess curricular and co-curricular programming.

Engagement

Yes

Hire eco-reps to integrate the goals of sustainability through the campus culture and into the lives of students. This was recommended in the 2014 Resonate report and has been successful at our peer and aspirant institutions.
Work with RAs/OLs/admissions staff and eco-reps on sustainability messaging and values.
Increase education around environmental-related topics, these could include faculty, students, staff or guest lecturers. This is partially achieved through the development of a sustainability dashboard (goal in Annual Sustainability Report).

Operations

This year, Quinnipiac audited all of campus operations to set baselines. Audits included water use, electricity use, tonnage of trash and recycling, and printing. These baselines will help to set future reduction targets.

Quinnipiac has an environmental justice plan (https://www.qu.edu/student-life/diversity-and-inclusion/our-vision/ten-point/):

Five inclusive excellence transformation grants of $1,000 each will be awarded to faculty and staff to develop courses, co-curricular or experiential opportunities that reflect the values of global citizenship, an appreciation for diverse cultures and experiences, and an understanding of how these principles connect to the personal and professional goals of our university community.

We have implemented a Diversity/Equity/Inclusion review of all pools of candidates for open positions.

We are developing an indigenous land acknowledgment statement in partnership with the Akomawt Educational Initiative.
