Part 1. Hazardous waste minimization and disposal

All areas employ an emphasis on waste minimization through product substitution or alternative methods, recycling or reclamation.
A brief description of how the institution safely disposes of hazardous, universal, and non-regulated chemical waste:
These wastes are collected in the areas where they are generated and disposed of in accordance with state and federal regulation. Universal waste is collected and sent to recycling facilities.
A brief description of any significant hazardous material release incidents during the previous three years, including volume, impact and response/remediation:
No known incidents have occurred in the last three years.
A brief description of any inventory system employed by the institution to facilitate the reuse or redistribution of laboratory chemicals:
The University utilized the UNH CEMS (Chemical Environmental Management System) program for managing the chemical inventory. This allows for minimizing ordering of new chemicals and facilitates reuse of chemicals by surplussing and adopting inventory.

Quinnipiac participates in both end-of life recycling and Reuse/Refurbishing. QU only uses R2 permitted/licensed downstream partners for our Electronics. This also applies to any other electronics we handle. TPR utilizes down-stream vendors that are fully compliant and licensed relating to the handling and recycling of electronics.
