A brief description of the institution’s formal participatory or shared governance bodies:
Students – Purdue Student Government

Purdue Student Government serves as the primary representative organization of the undergraduate student body and acts as a liaison between the Purdue University administration, governmental authorities, and the student body in order to serve the needs of Purdue students and to enhance the student experience at Purdue University. Purdue Student Government’s mission is to enhance the student experience through policy change, campus-wide initiatives, and promoting resources.

Students – Purdue Graduate Student Government

The Purdue Graduate Student Government (PGSG) is the legislative arm of, and the dedicated advocate for the Purdue graduate student body. We continuously seek out ways to engage our graduate students with each other, with Purdue University, and with the Greater Lafayette community.

Academic Staff – University Senate

The University Senate is the governing body of the faculty exercising the legislative and policy making powers assigned to the faculty. Subject to the authority of the Board of Trustees, and in consultation with the President, it has the power and responsibility to propose or to adopt policies, regulation, and procedures intended to achieve the educational objectives of Purdue University and the general welfare of those involved in these educational processes.

Non-Academic / non-faculty academic Staff

o    Campus Support Staff Advisory Committee (CSSAC) --- CSSAC was established in 1965 to provide an effective means of communication between the campus support staff and the University administration. Their goal is to improve the University system as a whole through engagement and dialogue, as well as providing professional and personal development opportunities for campus support staff

o    Management and Professional Staff Advisory Committee (MaPSAC) --- MaPSAC serves as a two-way conduit between M/P staff and the administration. As such, MaPSAC serves two distinct constituencies, each with the need to hear the other and to be heard by the other. In its role as an advisory committee, MaPSAC offers M/P staff a mechanism to voice their interests and concerns as they relate to campus affairs.
