Does the institution have a diversity and equity committee, office, and/or officer tasked to advise on and implement policies, programs, and trainings related to diversity, equity, inclusion and human rights on campus?:
Does the committee, office and/or officer focus on students, employees, or both?:
A brief description of the diversity and equity committee, office and/or officer, including purview and activities:
The Office of Student Life focuses on all aspects of student life, including diversity and equity. In the case of students, alleged Community Commitment violations are referred to the Dignity and Defense Program which is comprised of Restorative Justice and Community Board processes (this excludes sexual harassment charges which are referred to the grievance process adviser). In the case of faculty and staff, issues of diversity and equity are handled by the Department of Human Resources, with grievance procedures outlined in the Employee Handbook. A new Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee is specifically strengthening our approach (and resources available) on campus. A weekly online Book Club (open to all) discusses Mica Pollock's edited volume, "Every Day Anti-Racism."
