A brief description of the sustainability-focused immersive program(s) offered by the institution:
Undergraduate students may apply to more than 60 sustainability-related summer internships establiashed by the High Meadows Environmental Institute (HMEI). Internships involve research apprenticeships with Princeton faculty or other select mentored positions and often focus on complex global environmental issues related to energy and climate, biodiversity, urban adaptation, watersheds, agriculture, and global health.
Students may also seek funding for self-initiated projects with environmental and sustainability learning outcomes. Undergraduate students may also apply for HMEI funding to support sustainability related field research. Awarded students receive support for travel, research equipment and supplies, and other expenses necessary to complete field research associated with their sustainability focused senior thesis.
HMEI also supports graduate research through an Environmental Policy Fellowship Program, the Energy and Climate Scholars Program, Walbridge Fund Graduate Award, and the Randall Hack ’69 Graduate Award.
