Water-saving innovations

A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome that outlines how credit criteria are met and any positive measurable outcomes associated with the innovation:
Princeton's water-saving efforts feature several innovative strategies that have proven to reverse a trend of increased water usage through changes in water-intensive energy infrastructure, and by replacing potable water whenever possible with reclaimed and rain water, among other strategies.

For example, the water used for flushing toilets in the Princeton Neuroscience Institute the Andlinger Center for Energy & the Environment feature a collection system that uses rainwater as well as air conditioning condensate. Additionally, Princeton's new residential colleges will use reclaimed water from central energy plant cooling towers to flush toilets.
