A brief description of the institution’s sustainability projects fund:

The High Meadows Foundation Sustainability Fund supports proposals that seek to implement Princeton's Sustainability Action Plan, and contribute to creating a more sustainable, just and inclusive culture on campus, in service to humanity and the world. The fund welcomes, from across all disciplines, proposals for projects that use the campus and community as a living laboratory for teaching and research, and/or take direct action.

Successful applications are those that address one or more of the following areas outlined in the Sustainability Action Plan, and 1) Test and evaluate interventions that solve for sustainability in personal and institutional decisions and behaviors on campus, with the potential for repeatability or scalability, and/or 2) Create impactful, tangible experiences with sustainability so that students graduate with the knowledge, attitudes and behaviors to become effective ambassadors for advancing sustainability in their communities and spheres of influence.

Preference is given to those proposals that seek to advance sustainability in a way that also explicitly advances environmental justice.

A brief description of the multi-stakeholder decision-making process used to determine which projects receive funding through the sustainability projects fund:

High Meadows proposals are first evaluated by relevant staff members in the Office of Sustainability. Proposals that meet the funding criteria and are deemed viable are then advanced to the Office of Sustainability's Director for further review and a final determination of funding when the proposal is less than $5000. In cases where the proposal exceeds $5000, the proposal is further advanced to the VP of Facilities for additional review and a final determination of funding.
