A brief description of the method(s) used to gather data about student commuting, including the timeframe for when the analysis was conducted and how a representative sample was reached, if applicable:
Any commuter driving a personal vehicle to campus is required to have a permit—this includes students. Of Princeton’s 5,251 undergrads, none have a commuter permit. All students walk to class/campus or take Tiger Transit. Of Princeton’s 2,781 graduate students, only 367 have a commuter permit to park on campus. All others take Tiger Transit, bike/walk, or use public transit to commute to campus.
