Czuprynski Sustainability Coordinator Green Mountain Center for Sustainablity |
Narrative outlining the data collection process used in the preparation of this report:
Data collection was completed by the Green Mountain Center for Sustainability. Over the 2024 fall term, the Sustainability Coordinator gathered, curated, and analyzed data necessary to prepare the STARS report for version 3.0. The Sustainability Coordinator requested data directly from the offices, employees, or centers overseeing specific programs, receipts, or information. Often, this occurred through email; however, some constituents were interviewed for more in-depth investigation and qualitative narratives.
List of personnel who led the reporting process:
Zachary Czuprynski, Sustainability Coordinator
List of additional personnel who contributed to the reporting process:
Nearly all offices were involved in collecting data for the STARS report; there are too many individual stakeholders to list here.
The departments involved included the following:
- cafe/dining
- facilities
- institutional research
- housing
- library
- financial aid
- HR
- sustainability center
- business office
- admin
Were students involved in the data collection process?:
Narrative outlining how students were involved in the data collection process:
One student was hired as a work-study employee to update the sustainability course inventory in AC 1. The student retrieved a comprehensive course list and syllabi for each graduate and undergraduate course from the past two years. They scanned every course document to assess whether a course was sustainability-focused or sustainability-related. The student was encouraged to add a course to the list if they were unsure if it met the criteria; later, the Sustainability Coordinator examined the list and made edits.
Description of the internal data quality controls used in the preparation of this report:
The Sustainability Coordinator completed the STARS Data Quality Certification to adhere to best data collection and reporting practices. Members of the Sustainability Council assisted in reviewing various components of STARS, though not comprehensively. They were provided the 3.0 technical manual for the specific STARS credits they were reviewing. The Sustainability Coordinator reviewed all input from the council for final curation before submitting each credit.
