15.1. Air travel reduction and mitigation
Narrative and/or website URL providing an overview of the institution’s incentives designed to encourage employees to reduce their air travel:
Many teach-ins, symposiums, and Board of Trustee meetings are done virtually or in a hybrid format. This allows remote employees not to have to travel for short-term events. In the case of frequent events (e.g., a field course or research field stations), extended stays are given to students and employees to reduce the number of round trips needed. Also, most trips taken to the field station in Kino Bay, Mexico, are made with a company van (vanpool), which students and staff use to reduce air travel and roundtrip ground transport.
