A brief description of how sustainability is included prominently in new student orientation :
The college includes a presentation from the Director of Sustainability in the new student orientation, providing an overview of sustainability initiatives and opportunities for students. Orientation leaders also provide an introduction to sustainability as a core value set at Prescott College and as part of our mission dedicated to environmental responsibility and social justice.
The Sustainability Coordinator provides a walking tour of campus to highlight the main features of sustainability. Students are given information regarding the campus composting system as well as a short tutorial on how to compost. They are also informed about rainwater capture on campus grounds, native plant species, recycling on campus, and more. To supplement the sustainability tour, all students receive a Sustainability Living Guide which gives general methods/tips for living sustainably as a student on campus. It also highlights opportunities for students to get involved in initiatives on campus and within the broader Prescott community.
