Does the institution employ Life Cycle Cost Analysis (LCCA) when evaluating energy- and water-using products and systems?:
Which of the following best describes the institution’s use of LCCA?:
A brief description of the LCCA policy and/or practices:
Pratt has a two pronged approach to LCCA for systems using energy such as HVAC and lighting. Facilities, the Sustainability Officer, Admin, review systems with a licensed PE to determine LCCA for a variety of HVAC and lighting systems.
This looks at the overall costs of these systems based on capital, operating and carbon costs.
When we get to specific design projects. we ask the design team to evaluate the LCCA of HVAC and lighting systems for the particular space and compare to the systems that Facilities has reviewed with the PE.
Based on these analyses Pratt decides which system is best for Pratt in the long run.
