An inventory of food and beverage purchases that qualify as sustainably/ethically produced:
A brief description of the methodology used to conduct the inventory, including the timeframe and how representative samples accounted for seasonal variation (if applicable):
Data is from January 2020 - March 2020, representing the Winter Quarter.
We obtained a database of all food purchases from Chartwells (the PSU food contractor). We then went through and assessed every food as plant based and/or sustainably/ethically produced. Going forward, we are storing this in a database that can be used on future STARS iterations and potentially a Real/Good Food Calculator.
We reviewed some of the farms where food was sourced from, but do not currently have relationships with any that could qualify as institutionally-affirmed. We hope to build those relationships in the coming years.
