The Diversity Leadership has done a self-assessment of the diversity and equity related efforts for Portland State University. A Diversity Leadership Team (DLT) was created of members of the President’s Executive Committee members or their designees to draft a section of Portland State University’s first comprehensive Diversity Action Plan including metrics toward eight prioritized diversity and inclusion related goals (See, below for additional detail). The Diversity Action Council recently evaluated the progress of these diversity related goals.

In October/November of 2013, the DLT utilized the "Tool for Organizational Self-Assessment Related to Racial Equity (the Tool)." The Tool was created by the Coalition of Communities of Color and the non-profit organization All Hands Raised. Assessment Topic Areas included Organizational Characteristics, Workforce Competencies, Organizational Commitment, Leadership & Governance, Racial Equity Policies and Implementation Practices, Organizational Climate, Culture & Communications, Service-Based Equity, Service-User Voice & Influence, Workforce Composition & Quality, Community Collaboration, Resource Allocation & Contracting Practices, Data, Metrics & Continuous Quality Improvements.
