The Diversity Leadership has done a self-assessment of the diversity and equity related efforts for Portland State University. A Diversity Leadership Team (DLT) was created of members of the President’s Executive Committee members or their designees to draft a section of Portland State University’s first comprehensive Diversity Action Plan including metrics toward eight prioritized diversity and inclusion related goals (See, below for additional detail). The Diversity Action Council recently evaluated the progress of these diversity related goals.

A brief description of how the results of the assessment(s) are used in shaping policy, programs, and initiatives:

The results of the assessment will be used to prioritize diversity and inclusion goals in Portland State University’s Diversity Action Plan. The Diversity Action Plan is the document summarizing the current diversity related priorities for the institution. These include the following eight priorities:
1. Produce graduates who can be leaders in a global community.
2. Ensure that diversity is incorporated into the curriculum.
3. Create an environment that is welcoming, inclusive and diverse.
4. Create a more robust communication channels to bring the world to the campus and the campus to the world.
5. Endorse a campus-wide cultural competency training plan.
6. Recruit and retain cross-culturally sophisticated faculty and staff.
7. Recruit and retain a greater number of historically underrepresented, historically underserved and international students.
8. Develop and support relationships with the community, alumni and other partners.
