The majority of organic landcare at the college comes from the 20 Hectare farm that is home to the animals that are part of the college’s veterinary tech program. About two of the remaining hectares come from the learning gardens which are managed to strict organic standards. The remainder of the organic landcare comes from our vegetated swales. In accordance with best practices recommended by the City of Portland’s 2020 Stormwater Management Manual, PCC applies no pesticides or herbicides in our vegetated swales and they are effectively managed organically.
