Beauty can be found all around our state of Oregon in mountain, ocean, forest and desert landscapes! Learn about the eight distinct and unique ecoregions of our state including the geology, hydrology, climatology and biology that helped shape them all.

The forests of the Northwest have adapted to periodic fires over thousands of years. But we have experienced more frequent, larger and hotter wildfires in recent years. Learn basic knowledge about forests and wildfire, their relationship and what we can do as our climates continue to change.

Becoming an Inclusive Leader
In this course, participants will reconsider their perspective on leadership and implement essential leadership practices to foster inclusive organizational cultures.
Beekeeping
Covers bees and what they need to be healthy, as well as managing them for either honey production or queen rearing and nuc production. Learn all the tools and equipment available, and how to use them. We will teach mainly with Langstroth 10 frame hives, but will also practice in 8 frame, Warre, and Top Bar hives. FlowHives will be demonstrated, as well as traditional extraction of honey.

Dive into the history of immigration trends in the US, and the current debate and misconceptions around immigration and immigrants. We will study US foreign policy in Latin America and how it relates to people's need/desire to leave their home countries.
The historical context of immigration trends in the U.S. and the current debates surrounding them reveal a complex interplay of economic, social, and political factors. Misconceptions about immigrants often overshadow the reality of their contributions to society and the economy. Additionally, the impact of U.S. foreign policy in Latin America underscores the need to consider how international relations shape migration patterns. Moving forward, addressing these interconnected issues with informed policies will be crucial in fostering a more equitable and effective immigration system.
Urban Food Forests: Perennial Gardening
Learn the cultural context and benefits of urban food forestry and the practical steps needed to take in order to convert a lawn or garden into an abundant perennial ecosystem. This class is taught by a member of the Portland Food Forest Initiative.
