Name or title of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome:
Innovation in including Equity in Contracting

A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome that outlines how credit criteria are met and any positive measurable outcomes associated with the innovation:

In 2019, PCC put out a request for a vendor quote for Climate Action Planning Services that included a requirement for extensive integration of diversity, equity and inclusion throughout the Climate Action Planning process. DEI requirements were integrated throughout the request for quote as part of deliverables in stakeholder engagement, in the plan itself, and into minimum characteristics.

PCC included a requirement to take an equity conscious and environmental justice approach throughout the process, including in stakeholder engagement and in selection of adaptation and mitigation strategies. This includes using a PCC-developed equity guide. We also included experience centering DEI in planning processes in our scoring criteria.
