A brief description of any internal sustainability professional development and training opportunities that the institution makes available to non-academic staff:
Our Sustainability & Curriculum Council, District Sustainability Department and College Administration fund faculty and staff to attend sustainability conferences each year. This number typically ranges between 30-50 individuals a year.

In addition, PCC regularly hosts the Greater Portland Sustainability Education symposium.

Our staff regularly participate in a two day social justice training workshop that is offered with over 100 slots annually.

Student staff participate regularly in ecosocial justice training

We are currently working to provide sustainable purchasing training for office staff and other primary purchasers.

A brief description of any external professional development and training opportunities in sustainability that are supported by the institution :
Our Facilities Department hosts outside professionals for LEED certification training, integrated pest management best practices, and green cleaning trainings.

We also participate in the Energy Trust of Oregon's Strategic Energy Management program, which offers our team many professional development opportunities around Energy management. The team includes some of our electricians and HVAC leads, sustainability staff, an energy management intern as well as the facilities manager and two executive sponsors.

PCC sustainability staff also regularly attend the Association of Oregon recycles meetings and various sustainability webinars offered by other organizations such as the Sustainability Leadership Purchasing Council. In 2021, PCC sustainability staff along with other members of our sustainability leadership council participated in Second Nature's Climate Pursuit.

PCC also regularly sends staff to the National Conference on Race and Ethnicity.
PCC regularly sends staff and students to the Washington Oregon Higher Ed Sustainability Conference, which PCC is a co-founder and co-organizer of.

In FY 2020, students made PCC a host institution for AASHE's national conference. Over 100 of our staff attended at point or another, partially due to the focus on social justice present in the conference.

Conferences are announced through news and events on our webpage and through our Instagram account. Narrower opportunities are forward to specific relevant staff, e.g. sustainability purchasing training.
