A brief description of the child care program, policy, or practice:
PCC offers on-site high quality care at two of the three main campus’; Sylvania and Rock Creek. We also provide subsidies to a partner site, financially supporting the cost of five children, for the Cascade campus. Rock Creek and Cascade currently are almost fully supported by a federal Trio grant CCAMPIS (child care access means parents in school). This grant provides fiscal support for all preschool children at Rock Creek and subsidizes five children at Sylvania. At Cascade, we partner with Peninsula Child Development center in North Portland. Both Sylvania and Rock Creek are NAEYC (national association for the education of young children) accredited and are fully functional lab schools for the Early Education and Family Studies program here at PCC. Peninsula is currently undergoing a self-study in preparation for accreditation within the next two years. Both on-site programs offer evening care programs. Rock Creek offers care for children 3-12 four evenings a week.
