A brief description of how the institution ensures compliance with sustainable building operation and maintenance guidelines and policies:
Upon signing off on Portland Community College's (PCC) Climate Action Plan (CAP) District President Preston Pulliams committed to reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions as follows:
10% below 2006 levels by 2012
40% below 2006 levels by 2030
80% below 2006 levels by 2050.
PCC's Climate Action Plan includes a section dedicated to Buildings & Energy.
This section commits PCC to sustainable building operation and maintenance and identifies a number of strategies to accomplish associated objectives.
Upon signing the CAP, the College also committed to all new construction reaching a minimum of LEED silver certification. This has led to the adoption of green cleaning practices and other sustainable building operation and maintenance practices being streamlined throughout the organization.
