The policies, guidelines, and/or agreements with the institution's business partners (or a representative sample):
Pomona College has and acts on Green Building Standards for all capital projects, including new construction, renovations, remodels, and upgrades. Pomona College requires all business partners, vendors, and contractors to adhere to these standards. All projects must include relevant sustainable design/operations language in all RFPs where relevant, including architects, MEP consultants, commissioning agents, and general contractors. Some standards mentioned include: LEED Gold+ checklist, energy-efficiency goals, sustainable building features, renewable energy goals, water-efficient landscaping, life cycle cost analysis, utility rebates, energy modeling, materials reuse, and construction waste management plan (must have 90% diversion rate). There are also some LEED credits that Pomona College has deemed “prerequisite” for the college, including but not limited to: stormwater design, heat island effect, water efficiency (outdoor and indoor), building energy efficiency, sustainable materials (reuse, recycled, local), low-emitting materials, and building innovations.
For more information, please read the Green Building Standards.
