A brief description of how the strategic plan or amendment addresses the environmental dimensions of sustainability:
In Pomona's strategic plan, economic, social, and environmental sustainability are included as a basic underlying value and as a context for the College’s strategic plans. The plan describes sustainability as “one of the greatest challenges facing the next generation of college graduates” and states, “all of the activities carried out by Pomona College must reflect this concern.” The plan also expresses Pomona's desire to become a leader in higher education for sustainability, through its actions as well as its curriculum. It highlights in particular the need for new construction to be built in a sustainable fashion. The plan promises an open and public process of examining and reporting on sustainability goals and outcomes.

A brief description of how the strategic plan or amendment addresses the social dimensions of sustainability:
Diversity is a second underlying value emphasized in the plan: "it is a key goal to support and advance this diversity in all its dimensions." The plan acknowledges the benefits of a diverse student body, faculty, and staff across barriers of gender, race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, and nationality. The College seeks to be engaged both internationally and within the communities surrounding it: "it is nonetheless important for the College to recognize that its graduates must be prepared to live and work in an environment that is diverse and international, in which both competitive pressures and global needs lead to a broadening of educational horizons. While Pomona looks beyond the borders of the United States in significant ways, it is also important to recognize that its location in the greater Los Angeles area connects the College intimately with one of the great international cities of the world." The Strategic Plan contains goals to construct an International Center in addition to a Center for Community Partnerships (now completed) and logistical support for community service activities.
