Polytechnique is connected to Hydro-Quebec's electricity grid which comprises more than 99% of renewable electricity on an annual basis: hydropower, wind power, solar power and from other renewable sources. In 2018, the mix was 95% from hydropower in the province of Quebec and at times, 100% of the electricity produced is from renewable sources. Hydropower from Hydro-Quebec has a low GHG impact according to LCA studies, even lower than solar photovoltaic power.
