A brief description of when and why the energy consumption baseline was adopted:

The new buildings (Pavillons Lassonde), which are LEED gold certified buildings, opened in the fall of 2005. We wanted to assess the benefits of having improved our campus with LEED certified buildings.

For this section, we are using the flexibility offered by STARS to report older assessment and inventories due to the impact of COVID-19 pandemic. Data for year 2018-2019 have been chosen since this is the last complete year not affected by COVID-19; therefore it represents normal activities on campus. Furthermore, this choice is considered a conservative one since Polytechnique Montréal continuously improves its energy perfomances, so the years 2019-2020, 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 should show better energy performance than year 2018-2019.
