A brief description of the sustainable operations and maintenance policy/program and/or O+M rating system(s) used:
The manager of the Energy and HVAC sector of the Property Management department is in charge of monitoring the consumption of water and energy for both buildings.
The meter reading for the consumption of water and natural gas is performed daily. The level of oil and diesel tanks is also read and recorded daily.
Once a month, water meters for several processes, such as closed loops and water towers, are also read.
The head of the sector assembles the data once a month into Excel files. Fields to enter explanations for observed differences from historical data are provided. The changes made are thus detailed.
Thus, for energy consumption, the data tracked are:
- monthly electricity consumption of each of the two buildings;
- daily consumption of fossil fuels for heating purposes:
o consumption of natural gas;
o consumption of fuel oil # 2 (oil);
- steam production and daily calculation of boiler efficiency;
- delivery of diesel for the operation of the generators;
The total building area is also confirmed each year, and consumption is standardized according to the degree-day.
For water consumption, the collected data are:
- city water consumption for both buildings;
- consumption of gray water recovered from the roof of the Lassonde buildings.
Petrol and diesel fuel consumption of Polytechnique's vehicles are also noted and compiled annually.

These files are transferred once a year to the Sustainability Office for reporting in the annual sustainability report and for on-line monitoring.
