A brief description of how sustainability is included prominently in new student orientation :

All new students receive a daily planner in August, which contains a lot of information regarding what services are available to them on campus, among them pages about sustainable development have been included. Moreover, sustainable development information is also conveyed via social media, emails, billboards and booths during the start of the school year activites.

Also, all new students are required to visit the new Go-Poly on-line platform, where they must watch video capsules regarding health and safety on campus, countering sexual violence and harrassment, and sign the Code of conduct stating that they will behave ethically on campus. https://www.polymtl.ca/gopoly/en

Every year since 2017, around mid-September, the Sustainability Office organizes the Mon Campus à vélo week (Biking to campus week), to encourage the entire Polytechnique community to increase their use of bicycles, above all the new students. The idea is to encourage active transportation as a means of lowering our environmental impact, saving money and improving health by doing more physical activity. In addition to that week, as they wait to obtain their student ID cards, new students can meet an ambassador of the Sustainability Office to talk about sustainable transportation options to come to campus.
