-the Board of Directors (conseil d'administration);
Polytechnique Montreal's Board of Directors is the main governing body of the institution. The Board discusses and approves the stategic orientations of Polytechnique. The Academic Council also has the autonomy to look into any matter related to academic life. It shall ensure the implementation of policies that have been the subject of recommendations endorsed by the Board of Directors or that are under its jurisdiction and it plays an informative role to the Polytechnique community on academic issues. It is composed of 17 members, including 12 professors and 3 students.
