A brief description of the institution’s main campus and other aspects of the institutional boundary used to complete this report:

Polytechnique Montréal is located on the Mount Royal, location considered as a Historic and Natural District. The main campus located on the Mount Royal comprises three buildings : the Pavillon Principal which was built in 1956, and the two Lassonde buildings, which opened in the Fall 2005. Polytechnique’s Lassonde buildings were the first Canadian university buildings to be awarded a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold international certification.

Polytechnique Montreal is affiliated to Université de Montréal (University of Montreal) which is also located on the Mount Royal and manages nearly all the grounds and other buildings present on the campus. Since 2004, Polytechnique and Université de Montréal share the J.-Armand-Bombardier building (dedicated to nanosciences) but as it is the Université de Montréal that manages this building (energy, water and waste management), it was excluded from the boundaries of this report. Polytechnique also uses the André-Aisenstadt building but it is owned and managed by Université de Montréal so it has been excluded from the boundaries as well.

Which of the following features are present on campus and which are included within the institutional boundary?:
Present? Included?
Agricultural school No No
Medical school No No
Other professional school with labs and clinics (e.g. dental, nursing, pharmacy, public health, veterinary) No No
Satellite campus Yes No
Farm larger than 5 acres or 2 hectares No No
Agricultural experiment station larger than 5 acres or 2 hectares No No
Hospital No No

The rationale for excluding any features that are present from the institutional boundary:

Polytechnique Montreal also has small satellite campuses in rented offices accross Montreal but they were excluded from the boundaries for the Operations criteria because Polytechnique does not manage the operations of those rented spaces.
