Penn State Student Affairs and Penn State Sustainability staff have been very active in including sustainability as part of all student organizations’ development. Below is a list of the student organizations that are directly linked to the UN Sustainable Development Goals or have made strong commitments to include sustainability as part of their organization’s mission.

Academy Health Student Chapter - A health policy-focused organization primarily composed of doctoral-level students that host events and attends the annual health policy conference each year. The organization has members at University Park and Hershey Medical campuses.

Advanced Vehicle Team - For more than a decade, the Penn State Advanced Vehicle Team has participated in Advanced Vehicle Competitions similar to EcoCAR 2. The goal of these competitions is to encourage innovation and to train the next generation of engineers in the automotive, energy, and technology sectors. Their latest projects focus on all-electric fully autonomous vehicle design.

Ag Advocates - Ag Advocates are undergraduates who have been chosen to represent Penn State and the College of Agricultural Sciences at activities throughout the year. Ag Advocates help to inform the public about the college and the diversity of the agricultural sciences.

Agronomy Club - This is the student activities organization of the American Society of Agronomy. All students with interests in agriculture, agroecosystems, and soils are encouraged to join. Club activities include blue and white corn production and marketing; weekend trips to points of interest relating to agronomy; preparation of newsletters; and social activities such as hayrides, golf tournaments, barbecues, and picnics. Bimonthly meetings feature speakers from academia and industry. Opportunities exist to attend the national meetings of the Tri-Societies: Agronomy, Crops, and Soils.

Alternative Breaks - The Penn State Alternative Breaks (PSAB) program provides a variety of opportunities for students to learn more about themselves, others, and the world around them, through service. Our program includes trips throughout the year take place over university breaks: Fall Service Weekends (FSW), Fall Alternative Breaks (FAB), Alternative Winter Breaks (AWB), Spring Service Weekend (SSW), and Alternative Spring Breaks (ASB). Each program is designed to encourage personal growth, promote civic engagement, and enrich the lives of participants by immersing them in a new community around issues of social justice.

American Institute of Architecture Students - Promotes excellence in architectural education, training, and practice; fosters an appreciation of architecture and related disciplines; enriches communities in a spirit of collaboration; organizes students and faculty to combine their efforts to advance the art and science of architecture, and promotes the development of professional contacts and skills by its members.

American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers - A student-run pre-professional engineering club at Penn State, University Park for students interested in Agricultural and Biological Systems.

American Society of Civil Engineers - Our Goal as a Student Organization is to encourage an active interest in the study of Civil and Environmental Engineering, aid in professional and intellectual advancement, and establish bonds of good fellowship among our members.

American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers - ASHRAE is a global society focused on building systems, energy efficiency, indoor air quality, refrigeration, and sustainability within the HVAC&R industry.

American Solar Energy Society - The Penn State chapter of the American Solar Energy Society (ASES) was founded in 2010 at Penn State's University Park campus. Our mission is to advance all things solar at Penn State. Our parent organization is supported by more than 8,000 energy professionals and grassroots supporters.

American Society of Mechanical Engineers - To promote the study and application of engineering sciences, while creating leadership opportunities, and giving back to the local community.

American Water Resources Association - The mission of the AWRA Penn State Student Chapter is to collect, organize, and disseminate ideas and information in the field of water resources; provide a means of interaction within the water resources community; perform and participate in community service projects; represent membership in the campus community, and provide information about the organization to incoming and current undergraduate and graduate students.

APICS The Supply Chain Organization - APICS is a non-profit national education organization, offering certification programs, training tools, and networking opportunities to increase workplace performance. It was originally founded in Cleveland in 1957 as the American Production and Inventory Control Society and is now known as the Association for Operations Management.

Architectural Engineering Graduate Student Association - The purpose of this Chapter is to serve the interests of the graduate students of the Architectural Engineering Department at Penn State University and act as a conduit between the students and the decision-makers within the department. This organization functions to enhance the quality of the Architectural Engineering graduate student experience and education as well as aims to create a better sense of community within the department.

Arts & Architecture House - Arts & Architecture House is specially designed to meet the needs of students in majors such as art, music, architecture, theater arts, architectural engineering, and landscape architecture.

Asian Undergraduate Student Association - The Asian Undergraduate Students Association aims to give back to the Asian community at the Pennsylvania state university by creating opportunities to achieve a higher sense of cultural and social awareness. We will serve as a voice for and support the cultural and social interests of students with Asian pacific heritage. We will also transcend social borders and foster relationships with other groups on campus through community interactions.

Association for Women Geoscientists - We are the Penn State Student Chapter of Association for Women Geoscientists (AWG). We are an organization that promotes the participation of, and access for, women in the earth sciences. We also aim to increase diversity and accessibility in the geosciences for all under-represented groups in science, including all gender identities, sexualities, races, and more. If you agree with these efforts, and/or want to participate in these efforts, you have a place in AWG and its events.

Awaken State - Awaken State is a multidisciplinary and multigenerational initiative seeking to combine individuals of all educational backgrounds in the fight against climate change at PSU. Awaken State has a few core values that we see as critical to adhere to if climate change is to be correctly addressed: tell the truth, build only the best, replace the worst, and price the rest. These core values are put into action by Awaken State's working groups, subdivisions of the organization that focus on a specific issue of interest at University Park.

Bahá' Campus Association - The purpose of this association shall be to further the tenets of the Bahá'í Faith and promote peace among world religions.

Beekeepers Club - The Beekeepers Club exists as a space for beekeeping-enthusiasts and for those simply interested in learning about/sharing the beekeeping hobby. They promote the importance of honeybees through various activities.

Biobehavioral Health Society - The Biobehavioral Health Society was created to facilitate a positive learning environment in the undergraduate program and to foster communication between faculty and students. The society holds regular meetings that focus on recognizing outstanding achievements and developing educational and career opportunities for students.

Biochemistry Society - The Penn State Biochemistry Society is committed to providing networking within the BMB and related departments and offering information on opportunities both inside and outside the major.

Biochemistry, Microbiology and Molecular Biology Graduate Student Association - The mission of the BMMB GSA is to build and nurture community within the BMMB graduate student body, both professionally and socially, as well as to facilitate communication between the graduate student body and BMMB department faculty and staff.

Biological Honor Society - The purpose of Biological Honor Society shall be to function as an honor and professional society for students of the biological sciences.

Bird Interest, Recreation, and Donation Club - Our purpose is to educate, appreciate, and spread awareness of the impact of birds in human life. We strive to be a philanthropic and educational organization for the benefit of birds around the world.

Black Caucus - The Penn State Student Black Caucus aims to promote and protect the safety and well being of minority students, to provide, educate, bring awareness, and serve the overarching minority community through social and political means.

The Black Student Union - The BSU is a student organization that aims to serve as a representative voice of the Black student body at Penn State by establishing a sense of community through unity, legacy, and leadership.

Blooms & Shrooms - The purpose of the Blooms and Shrooms is to build awareness of plant pathology, encourage networking between undergraduates and researchers, and develop professional skills while providing a social atmosphere among students.

BLUEprint - The purpose of BLUEprint is to promote the well being of first-year and change-of-campus students in order to encourage successful matriculation through Penn State.

Biomedical Engineering Society - The purpose of BMES GSA is to foster a graduate student community focused on professional and academic development and provide graduate students involved in biomedical research.

Brewing Club - The purpose of the Penn State Brew Club is to provide students with an opportunity to further their knowledge of brewing and fermentation sciences.

Bridge Initiative - The Bridge Initiative is a group of volunteer consultants who are the “bridge” between local organizations in need of volunteers and passionate students who strive to make positive changes in society. Their mission is to promote collaboration among students, school and local communities to execute socially beneficial projects to raise the public awareness of societal problems.

Bridges to Prosperity - Bridges to Prosperity is a non-profit organization that seeks to build footbridges over impassable rivers in impoverished rural areas across the globe. Through construction of bridges, residents of these communities are provided with better access to healthcare, education, and economic market opportunities. The Penn State chapter was founded in the Spring of 2013 and is composed of a dedicated core of engineering students.

Center for Infectious Disease Dynamics (CIDD) Graduate Student Association
The mission of CIDD is to (1) increase graduate student involvement in the Center of Infectious Disease Dynamics (CIDD) events, (2) create a sense of community among graduate students involved with the CIDD, and (3) foster professional development and an atmosphere of growth for graduate students in CIDD.

Center for Sustainability Community Garden - This student club coordinates the usage and maintains the 98-plot community garden at the Sustainability Experience Center.

Changing Health, Attitudes, and Actions To Recreate Girls at Penn State University (CHAARG) - The purpose of the CHAARG of Penn State University Chapter is to serve college-aged students in pursuing their health and wellness goals through creating a community of peers and enhancing our members' knowledge and experience of health and wellness. CHAARG will provide opportunities for students to expand self-awareness by engaging in activities related to nutrition and fitness as well as promote programming that will explore various forms of physical activity.

Charity: Water - The mission of charity: water Penn State is to assist the non-profit organization, charity: water, by creating awareness of the ongoing water crisis in developing nations and to raise funds to assist charity: water’s mission to bring safe, clean drinking water to those in need.

Coalition of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Ally Graduate Students - Aims to actively and creatively strengthen, enrich and promote the overall climate of social, economic and political support and affirmation of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered graduate students

College of Education Student Council - The college of education student council focuses on supporting undergraduate teachers in training and they have done workshops on ways to bring sustainability into the classroom.

College of Health and Human Development Ambassadors - As College of Health and Human Ambassadors, we promote the interests of the college at events involving prospective students, current students, and alumni.

Collegiate 4-H Club - Collegiate 4-H is a student organization committed to the leadership development of its members, doing community service that makes a difference, and continuing our support of the Pennsylvania 4-H program.

Community, Environment, and Development Club - The Community, Environment, and Development Club is a networking and community service-based club focused on the local community of State College. They strive to build relationships with community members and community organizations to enhance the sustainability and economic development of State College and its surrounding areas.

Community Food Security Club - The Community Food Security Club explores nutrition and confronts issues of nutritional health by emphasizing environmentally sustainable practices. Through educational campaigns, they are committed to raising awareness of the hunger and food insecurity issues faced by 50 million Americans.

Connecting with Cambodia - The purpose of Connecting with Cambodia is to raise money and awareness for the children of Cambodia. Our organization aims to raise money to build a small school in a rural, poverty-stricken area of Cambodia and also provide any additional resources to better the education of the children that reside there. We also aim to fundraise money for the Ponheary Ly Foundation.

Council Of Commonwealth Student Governments - CCSG advocates for the 19 Penn State Commonwealth Campuses by providing a forum for communication, growth, unity and legislative opportunities for Penn State students. CCSG has sustainability leadership positions that guide decisions at campuses across the state.

Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals - The purpose of the Penn State student chapter of the CSCMP is to foster academic and professional advancement in the supply chain field, promote the exchange of knowledge, experience, ideas, and cooperation among its members and lead the evolving supply chain management profession.

Council of Sustainable Leaders - The Council of Sustainable Leaders (CSL) is working to enhance student and faculty engagement in co-curricular programming related to sustainability and provides grassroots support and resources for sustainability-related student organizations across campus. They host the weekly Sustainability Showcases featuring professionals from the field, work with the affiliate student organizations through the CSL committee, and provide a wide range of student engagement opportunities on campus.

Cycling Club - A student-powered organization (club sport) that seeks to provide opportunities for cyclists of all levels and interests.

Dharma Lions - The mindfulness and meditation community at Penn State.

Diversity and Inclusion Leadership Council in Health and Human Development -
The Diversity and Inclusion Leadership Council assists the HHD Office for Diversity and Inclusion with innovative ideas and programming that will support students from underrepresented groups in the college and/or interested in human services fields. Council members will help with bringing awareness to diversity issues, advocating for students, and creating an inclusive campus community.

Earth and Mineral Science Student Council - The College of Earth and Mineral Sciences' undergraduate Student Council facilitates friendly interactions among students, faculty, staff, and alumni in the college.

Earth and Mineral Sciences Interest House - The Earth and Mineral Sciences Interest House (Special Living Option) exists to provide a live-in community that promotes a favorable academic and social atmosphere for students interested in any Earth and Mineral Science field.

Earth House - Earth House provides academic support and an enjoyable diverse living environment for those interested in agricultural and environmental topics.

Eberly College of Science Student Council - Represents the undergraduate student population in the Eberly College of Science to the College and University administrations, provides assistance and support to the students in the College, works to improve interactions between students and faculty, and promotes scientific fields of endeavor.

Eco Action - Since its foundation as Penn State’s first environmental organization in 1972, students have breathed life into the environmentalist movement, working as one to transform Penn State into an ultimately sustainable university. Past campaigns have included Quit Coal, An Environmental Bill of Rights, and many others.

Eco Conservation Association - Eco stands for Economy and Ecology. Our primary goal is to protect the environment, to spread the "up-cycle" idea, and to save time and save money. Our focus is on sustainable lifestyles and environmental discussions and research. Our primary activity is the sustainable lifestyle challenge.

Ecology Graduate Student Organization - The EGSO provides a forum for graduate students in the Penn State Ecology Program to engage in activities related to academic aspects of the program, recruitment, mentoring and professional development, special activities and events, outreach to other groups at PSU and the broader community.

Eco-Reps - Eco-Reps are first-year students committed to creating a culture of sustainability at Penn State. These paid positions are open to students from diverse majors and backgrounds to encourage sustainable behaviors in the residence halls through fun activities. Some of the program's successes include East Halls going "Zero Waste" and the energy savings from the energy challenge each spring.

Ecosystem Science and Management Graduate Student Organization - The GSO is an organization committed to improving the academic, social, and professional experience of all graduate students enrolled in ESM programs (Wildlife and Fisheries, Forestry, and Soils).

Educational Leadership Student Association (ELSA) - ELSA is a student run organization dedicated to graduate students in the College of Education’s Education Leadership program.

Education Policy Studies Student Association (EPSSA) - EPSSA is a student organization interested in issues related to education and educational policies. The mission of EPSSA is to promote the development of students as scholars and future professionals in the fields of Educational Leadership, Education Theory and Policy, Higher Education, American Indian Leadership, and Comparative International Education.

EHouse - Penn State Engineering House (E-House) hopes to provide students with a constructive and positive live-in community that supports projects and activities relevant to their majors within the College of Engineering.

Emergency Management Club - ClubEM is the primary opportunity for students to become involved and learn about the field of emergency management in the absence of an official field of study at Penn State’s main campus.

Enactus - Enactus provides members the opportunity to make a difference and develop leadership, teamwork and communication skills through engaging in social entrepreneurship.

Energy, Business, and Finance Society - The Energy Business and Finance Society offers students within the EBF major, or those with interest in the major, with a different array of venues to learn about the opportunities that come with the program.

Engineers without Borders - Engineers Without Borders (EWB) is a non-profit, humanitarian organization that partners with developing communities worldwide to improve their quality of life through the implementation of sustainable engineering projects, while fostering leadership skills, technical ability and a global outlook in students of any major. Engineers Without Borders-Penn State has been a recognized chapter of Engineers Without Borders-USA since the spring of 2010.

Engineers for a Sustainable World - ESW strives to promote sustainability throughout the engineering process. We do this by working on various projects throughout the semester. In addition, we host guest lecturers who have a hand in sustainable practices, and we go on field trips to local places that demonstrate various aspects of sustainability.

Environmental Resource Management Society - The ERM Society's mission is to join the students of the Environmental Resource Management major to stimulate interest in the environment. They provide further awareness of environmental issues through professional events, speakers, discussions, etc.

Food Recovery Network - Food Recovery Network unites students on college campuses to fight waste and feed people by donating the surplus unsold food from their colleges and donating it to hungry Americans.

Food Science Club - The mission of this club is to serve as a liaison among members of the Department of Food Science, the College of Agricultural Sciences, the Pennsylvania State University, and the community at large by providing and promoting social, service, competitive, leadership, and academic events focused on food science in conjunction with the Institute of Food Technologists Student Association (FTSA) and the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT).

Foundation for International Medical Relief of Children: Penn State Chapter - FIMRC is a non-profit organization that aims to provide access to health care to underserved communities around the world.

GenEq - The purpose of GenEq Peer Educators is to provide educational programming on topics including gender violence, sexual assault, and relationship violence on behalf of the Gender Equity Center (GenEq).

Genomix - The purpose of GENOMIX (the Bioinformatics and genomics student association) is to provide a forum for undergraduate and graduate students whose research is related to Bioinformatics and Genomics

Geosciences Club - The Penn State Geosciences Club is an involvement opportunity for undergraduate students interested in the geosciences, earth sciences,and environment. It is a welcoming place for interaction with our world class faculty.

Geospatial Information Science Coalition - The Geospatial Information Science (GIS) Coalition is an organization that offers students majoring, minoring, or sharing an interest in GIS opportunities to develop supplementary knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in the professional GIS industry.

Global Architecture Brigades - The Mission of Architecture Brigades is to collaborate with rural communities in Honduras to alleviate needs in health and education infrastructure through design and hands-on construction projects. Projects include designing and constructing schools and health centers for rural communities.

Global Business Brigades - Global Brigades is the world’s largest student-led global health and sustainable development organization. Since 2004, Global Brigades has mobilized thousands of university students and professionals through nine skill-based programs that work in partnership with community members to improve quality of life in under resourced regions while respecting local culture.

Global Environmental Brigades - The mission of Environmental Brigades is to empower rural communities in Panama to reverse degradation and preserve their environment through reforestation, sustainable agriculture, waste management and education programs.

Global Human Rights Brigades - Penn State's chapter of Global Human Rights Brigades is a chapter of Global Brigades, the largest student-run sustainable development organization in the world. Members of HRB work with in-country lawyers and social workers to improve access to legal counsel, legal education, and human services in Panama's rural communities during 8-day trips throughout the year.

Global Medical Brigades - Global Medical Brigades provides a holistic model for sustainable health care in under-served rural communities by conducting preliminary needs assessments, treating patients to the highest ethical standards, sponsoring referrals to those with needs beyond our capability, recording data for the production of quantitative reports, and working with other GB programs to improve the water, sanitation, and economic infrastructures.

Global Water Brigades -Global Water Brigades (GWB) is a movement of passionate students and professional volunteers from around the world dedicated to improving access to clean water and sanitation. GWB designs and implements water systems to increase access and quantity of water to the communities it services, and to prevent communicable illnesses in communities with limited access to clean water.

GlobeMed - GlobeMed aims to strengthen the movement for global health equity by empowering students and communities to work together to improve the health of people living in poverty around the world. GlobeMed at Penn State partners with ACUDESBAL, a grassroots organization working with 29 communities in Bajo Lempa, El Salvador to strive for social, economic, political, and environmental justice.

Graduate and Professional Student Association (GPSA) - GPSA focuses on providing a unified voice for the graduate community, particularly with regards to the health and well-being of graduate students.

Graduate Women in Science - GWIS is an interdisciplinary national society of men and women, who support equal opportunities for all in the field of STEM.

Graduates in Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies - The mission of the GWGSS is to represent and support the interests of graduate student majors and minors in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, as well as those who are interested in or affiliated with the program.

Habitat for Humanity - Habitat for Humanity International is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry that seeks to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world, and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action. Throughout the year, Habitat at Penn State has a constant presence and is actively involved in projects around campus as well as in the community.

HackPSU - Penn State’ annual Hackathon organization.

Hands for Hope - Our goal is to raise money for families battling with drug addiction and overdose.

HealthWorks - HealthWorks is a peer education/outreach program in University Health Services that aims to promote health among Penn State students.

Helping Across the Community - The Helping Across the Community Interest House, located on the first floor of Beaver Hall, is focused on enhancing ourselves and our community through service learning and service leadership.

Homecoming - Penn State Homecoming has hosted sustainability-related events such as the Day of Service at the Sustainability Experience Center.

Horticulture Club - The Horticulture Club is an organization for all university students interested in plants, gardening, and landscaping. It is the goal of the club to educate both its members and the public on sound horticultural practices, new plants, and new techniques.

Indigenous People's Student Association - The Indigenous Peoples Student Association is a community of Indigenous students, allies, faculty, and staff at Penn State dedicated to fostering Indigenous student academic success on campus through advancement, promotion, retention, and social activities.

Innoblue - Innoblue is a community of artists and hackers, coders and designers, innovators and makers, who want to change the world for the better.

Interfaith Power & Light - Interfaith Power & Light strives to connect religion with healthy environmental practices by mobilizing a moral response to climate change.

International Agriculture Club - The Penn State Chapter of the International Association of Students in Agricultural and Related Sciences (IAAS), called the International Ag Club, promotes the exchange of experience, knowledge, and ideas among students in the fields of agriculture and related sciences all over the world.

International Communication Skills Development Association - Our primary purpose is to connect diverse groups and enhance international communication in and out of campus.

Institute of Transportation Engineers - Transportation engineers who support the sustainability institute on the transportation committee.

International Agriculture Club - The Penn State Chapter of the International Association of Students in Agricultural and Related Sciences (IAAS), called the International Ag Club, promotes the exchange of experience, knowledge, and ideas among students in the fields of agriculture and related sciences all over the world.

Landscape Architecture Student Society - Student run organization focused on advancing the future of landscape architecture design.

Lions Against Hunger - Lions Against Hunger endeavors to establish a tradition of providing relief for needy families in State College by engaging Penn State students in an annual Thanksgiving food drive, partnerships and other events. To cultivate warm personal relationships between Penn State students and local residents, and to raise awareness of hunger and poverty in the community through year-round philanthropy and service.

Marine Science Society - The Pennsylvania State Marine Science Society was founded to provide a home where those passionate about marine science can thrive with a focus on education, awareness, and promoting healthy conservation efforts.

Martin Luther King, (MLK) Jr. Commemoration Student Committee - The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The Commemoration Student Committee honors the life and legacy of Dr. King by planning and executing events throughout the academic year which focus on a central theme chosen annually.

Materials Research Society - The mission of the Materials Research Society Chapter at the Pennsylvania State University is to promote interdisciplinary materials research, education, and professional development.

Minorities in Agriculture and Natural Resources - As a chapter of the national society for Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources and Related Sciences, MANRS pledges to work for the inclusion, achievement and advancement of all people in the agricultural sciences.

Minorities in Earth and Mineral Science (EMS) - Support minority students in EMS, facilitate meetings and events that pertain to sustainability in the Paul Robeson Cultural Center.

Molecular, Cellular, Integrative Biosciences Graduate Student Association - The purpose of MCIBS GSA is to unite the students of the MCIBS graduate program via building an inclusive professional, social and intellectual community.

Movin' On - The largest music festival on campus who is working towards reducing event waste.

Multicultural Engineering Graduate Association - MEGA is a student organization that fosters the recruitment and retention of domestic underrepresented graduate students in all STEM fields.

Multicultural Women’s Forum - To create a support network, enhance professional development, and leadership skills for multicultural women in, but not limited to, the Smeal College of Business.

National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) - The mission of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) is to secure the political, educational, social, and economic equality of rights in order to eliminate race-based discrimination and ensure the health and well-being of all persons.

National Association of Home Builders - Student chapter of the Pennsylvania Housing Research Center, which serves the home building industry and the residents of Pennsylvania by improving the quality and affordability of housing.

National Council of Negro Women - 1. To lead, develop, and advocate for women of African descent by way of community-based services and programs on issues of health, education, and economic empowerment. 2. To unite non-profit organizations of women in a council of organizations primarily concerned with the welfare of Negro women. 3. To build cohesion between women through our shared similarities and distinct differences. 4. To devise ways to use each others' differences to enrich our vision and our joint struggles.

National Organization of Minority Architecture Students - NOMAS has as its mission the building of a strong national organization, strong chapters, and strong members for the purpose of minimizing the effect of racism in our profession.

National Society of Black Engineers - NSBE’s Penn State chapter's mission is to increase the number of culturally responsible Black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally and positively impact the community.

NextGen - The mission of NextGen at Penn State is to encourage youth participation in the political process and promote advocacy on the issues that affect young voters.

Nexus - The Eberly College of Science Network for Excellence in Undergraduate Science serves to orient first year undergraduates to the Penn State University Park in the beginning of the fall and spring semesters.

Net Impact (Graduate Chapter) - PSNI focuses on a collaborative learning environment where all members help educate each other. We discuss topics related to social entrepreneurship, socially responsible investing, sustainable supply chains, sustainable growth and development, corporate citizenship, social marketing, green building, and community economic development.

Net Impact (Undergraduate Chapter) - Penn State Net Impact is a sustainability-focused student organization in the Smeal College of Business. We are affiliated with Net Impact National, a nonprofit organization with over 50,000 students and professional leaders in over 300 volunteer-led chapters across the globe.

Nittany Divers SCUBA Club - The Nittany Divers was founded to promote and to encourage SCUBA diving in a safe and sensible manner. We serve to encourage and to promote the underwater world, including oceanography, marine biology, and archeology, to provide a common meeting ground for all those interested in any phase of SCUBA diving.

Nourish International - Nourish is a global movement through which students make a sustainable impact on extreme poverty and create opportunities for change. They envision a world in which all people are able to meet their basic human needs.

Out in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics - oSTEM is a non-profit student organization created to influence the academic and professional progress and development of LGBTQ+ students and youth in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

Outing Club - The Penn State Outing Club is a student run organization that is dedicated to experiencing the outdoors in every possible capacity. Club members organize backpacking, canoeing, kayaking, hiking, and trail maintenance trips from the Catskills to California. PSOC is dedicated to helping the community through extension programs at Shaver’s Creek and the surrounding trail maintenance groups.

Penn State Robotics Club - Design a variety of robots for different competitions.

Plant Pathology Association - The PPA is an organization designed for graduate students in the Department of Plant Pathology and Environmental Microbiology.

Plant Science Graduate Student Association - A graduate student group to bring together students interested in the plant sciences. We aim to bring together students with many different backgrounds and to provide support for students interested in the plant sciences.

Public Health Brigades - Working side-by-side with community members, volunteers improve the overall infrastructure within the home through the construction of five projects - eco-stoves, latrines, water storage units, showers, and concrete floors – to reduce preventable diseases caused by poor in-home health infrastructure.

Queer and Trans People of Color - The purpose of Queer and Trans People of Color is to develop an identity, promote awareness, celebrate sexual and cultural differences, provide education and leadership, highlight issues of social justice and create productive social spaces for those who identify as queer people of color.

Recreation, Park, and Tourism Student Society - Unites all recreation education majors at the University, fosters and maintains high standards of professional qualifications, and disseminates information concerning the activities and interests of the Society.

Recreation, Park, and Tourism Management Graduate Student Association - Connects all Graduate recreation education majors at the University.

ServeState - ServeState is a student run service and philanthropy organization who aim to better Penn State and the surrounding community. They have a membership minimum of 25 hours of service per semester.

Society of American Forestry - The Penn State Student Chapter of the Society of American Foresters seeks to advance the science, technology, education, and practice of professional natural resource management and to use the knowledge and skills gained to benefit society.

Society of Energy Engineers - Penn State was the first university to create the Society of Energy Engineers for its students majoring in energy engineering. Objectives are to provide students with a forum to discuss various academic, research, and professional opportunities; to provide enriching educational experiences; to network with peers and industry professionals; and to educate prospective students and employment recruiters about the skill set of energy engineering graduates.

Society of Environmental Systems Engineers - We provide a forum for the concerns and interests of EnvSE students. Goals include publicizing ENVSE to industry, corporations, and the general public, creating awareness of EnvSE at Penn State, encouraging student involvement, participating in campus outreach projects, and professional development through industry and government speakers.

Science Policy Society - The Science Policy Society holds a number of sustainability related events in their Science on Tap series. SPS stands as a unique organization at Penn State that dissects the vital connection between the world class research completed at PSU and the complex network of parties which develop the budgets, policies, and regulations which impact our ability to remain a strong research institution.

Society of Automotive Engineers - We advance mobility knowledge and solutions for the benefit of humanity. Our Vision: SAE is the leader in connecting and educating mobility professionals to enable safe, clean, and accessible mobility solutions.

Society of Energy Engineers - Our society aims to link students in Energy Engineering or other energy related fields with each other to develop professionally within their areas of interest.

Society of Engineering Science - SES is a recognized student organization that represents Engineering Science majors.

Society of Environmental Systems Engineers - To publicize Environmental Systems Engineering (ENVSE) to industry, corporations, and the general public; to create awareness of ENVSE at Penn State.

Society of Women Engineers - SWE’s mission to “stimulate women to achieve as engineers and leaders, expand the image of the engineering profession as a positive force in improving the quality of life, and demonstrate the value of diversity.” The Penn State Student Section of SWS was founded in 1975 and has grown to become the largest and most active engineering organization on campus.

Solar Decathlon Team of Penn State - Purpose: A. To educate members on energy efficient systems and sustainable design in a way that is facilitated through integrated design. B. To provide a platform for members to participate in the Department of Energy Solar Decathlon. C. To train the next generation of designers, engineers, and professionals in sustainable practices and collaboration, so they can have a greater impact on the world.

Springfield - Springfield provides emotional and financial support to its adopted Hershey Four Diamonds children and their families. They host more sustainable fundraisers like setting up a portable 10,000 Villages store with fair trade products.

Sports Business Conference - Our student run conference gives professionals the opportunity to
interact with and inspire Penn State students to pursue a career in the sports industry. The PSBC has expressed interest in reducing waste during this large scale event.

Student Association of Environmental Science and Engineering - The main purpose of SAESE-PSU is to foster interactions between graduate and undergraduate scientists and engineers engaged in environmentally relevant research.

Students Engaging Students - They aspire to enrich our campus community and encourage student involvement by: facilitating leadership development, promoting community service, fostering civic engagement, and supporting student organizations.

Supporting Women in Geography (SWIG) - SWIG's mission is to promote the participation of women in the discipline of geography and to empower women who are pursuing academic and professional careers in geography. We provide regular opportunities for women and supporters of women to come together for intellectual, professional, and personal support, and to develop a network of information and resources.



Students for Environmentally Enlightened Design (SEED) - SEED was founded by three Department of Architecture students in 2009 to promote student-supported initiatives, as well as existing work in environmentally sustainable design.

Student United Way - The Penn State Student United Way (PSU SUW) is a student-run branch of the Centre County United Way. We are a group of student volunteers devoted to lending our time and talent for the benefit of our surrounding community. Additionally, we work closely with Centre County United Way to provide continuing support for its 40 partner agencies.

Sustainable Agriculture Club - The Sustainable Agriculture Club strives to help the Penn State community better understand the importance of sustainable agriculture through hosting educational speakers, community programs, and activities. The club gives students the opportunity to engage in activities and discussions that explore today's food system at a farm level.

Tailgate Ambassadors - The Tailgate Ambassador program is a partnership between the office of Physical Plant and Intercollegiate Athletics administered by the Sustainability Institute. The program connects committed volunteer student organizations to canvas all tailgate lots surrounding Beaver Stadium. Students serve as liaisons, enhancing fans' tailgate experiences and promoting environmentally responsible tailgating practices.

Take Back the Tap - Take Back the Tap at Penn State (TBTT) is an organization that promotes the use of reusable water bottles and education on the dangers of bottled water consumption. TBTT strives to kick disposable water bottles off campus and support clean and healthy drinking water for all.

Vegetarian Club - As ambassadors of a vegetarian lifestyle, we invite Penn State students and the dynamic State College community to partake in the benefits of a plant-based diet for the sake of health, the animals, and the planet. Through outreach, education and social events, we act as catalysts in the veg movement.

The Wildlife Society - The Wildlife Society (TWS) has a wide range of activities in professional development, recreation, fund-raising and recruitment, and community service. In the past these have included short courses at Shaver's Creek such as Project WILD and Pennsylvania Songbirds, Bird Box building, trips to bat caves and T n D Cats, and a variety of guest speakers at meetings, to name a few.

Undergraduate Students in the Department of Geography (UnderDoGS) - The UnderDoGS at Penn State are a group of undergraduates in the Department of Geography who represent the commitment of the students in the Department of Geography to not only excel in their studies, but also in contributing to their fellow students and to society.

The Student Farm at Penn State was established in spring 2016. The farm is a space for people with a diversity of backgrounds and interests to learn about where our food comes from, as well as to apply their unique skills and experiences to a farm setting. Related to the above is the Student Farm Club, whose purpose is to organize, engage and involve students with the Sustainable Food Systems Program and Student Farm Initiative (SFI) through club meetings, outreach and educational events, interaction with the Sustainable Food Systems Program Steering Committee, work on the Student Farm, and other related activities.

The 98-plot, student-managed Community Garden promotes organic, effective, and environmentally sound ways of controlling pests in the garden through the use of integrated pest management (IPM). Innoblue is a community of artists and hackers, coders and designers, innovators and makers, who want to change the world for the better. Innoblue was established in April 2010 by two Penn State students, David Adewumi and Jon Tornetta, dedicated to starting and supporting innovative business, civic, and social ventures in State College. Innoblue has grown to include a team and large advisor pool with multidisciplinary backgrounds, who all work together to oversee and catalyze the progress of early stage ventures. http://www.innoblue.org/

The Happy Valley LaunchBox is a signature program of Invent Penn State, a Commonwealth-wide initiative to spur economic development, job creation, and student career success. The Student Farm Club hosts its own student-run CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) on campus. Shares are open to anyone who is part of the campus community-if participants have a PSU email, they are eligible to join! The farm offers a 3-week “Maymester” share, an 8-week summer share, and a 7-week fall share. The farm has worked to address food insecurity issues through a partnership with the Lion’s Pantry and the office for Student Care and Advocacy, and generous community donations. Pennsylvania State University is a chapter of Global Business Brigades, an international movement of university students and professionals building economic opportunities in the developing world. Business Brigades works alongside promising entrepreneurs and experienced year-round staff to create financial opportunities in remote, rural, and under resourced areas of Honduras and Ghana. The organization works with communities to build community-owned banks to provide access to loans, savings accounts and financial literacy for community members. A sustainability-themed film series, the Intersections Film Series (https://intersections.psu.edu/) was initiated in fall of 2015, organized by staff at the Sustainability Institute. Examples of the films presented include: Merchants of Doubt, This Changes Everything, Glacial Balance, After Coal and Age of Consequences. Panel discussions with faculty and others have followed each film.

The Sustainability Showcase Series is a weekly speaker series (Fridays 12 pm - 1:30 pm, in-person and live-streamed) are designed to make connections between faculty research, personal and professional interest and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals while broadening the discourse surrounding sustainability. Penn State has an annual Colloquium on the Environment Speaker Series, open to students as well as faculty/ staff. Speakers that have been hosted by the university include: Robert F. For a number of years, Penn State has hosted the Pennsylvania Environmental Resource Consortium's annual conference on the University Park campus. The conference gives students the opportunity to present, and to learn, about what is happening on the state's college and university campuses to energize engagement with sustainability.

Aurora is a first-year student orientation program consisting of five exciting programs — ORION, POLARIS, RIGEL, URSA, and VEGA. The SEED Semester provides transformative engaged scholarship experiences for Penn State students since 1979. Students spend days with like-minded classmates engaging in real world, hands-on experiences teaching children and families about the natural world. They work side-by-side with experienced outdoor educators, team building facilitators, and naturalists to gain a holistic set of outdoor leadership skills.

As part of the EcoReps program, students residential students have had the opportunity to interact with EcoReps in the residence halls. The program aims to:

● Explain how sustainability relates to their lives and their values, and how their actions impact issues of sustainability.

Students specifically participate in No Impact Week, a one-week experiment in sustainable living, which allows them to experience the difference lowering their impact can have on their quality of life, their community and their planet. Special events have focused on local food, energy use, reducing consumption of bottled water, and recycling.

Student Sustainability Advisory Council (SSAC): The SSAC provides consultation and advice to upper administrators on Penn State sustainability planning, programs, and initiatives. EARTH House is an enjoyable and diverse living environment for students interested in agricultural and environmental issues. Academic support including tutoring and study groups is also part of EARTH House. Activities include hiking trips, clean-up at Shaver's Creek, volunteer projects, and trips to agricultural events such as the Pennsylvania Farm Show. EARTH House is located in North Halls.

In addition to the programs above Penn State has active undergraduate research, global/regional study abroad/away, and alternative spring break programming that relates to sustainability.
