Data source(s) and notes about the submission:
Headcounts and FTEs of students and employees are based on data drawn from the Penn State Fact Book, Fall 2018 snapshot, which was deemed to be most consistent with the FY18/19 and calendar year 2019 data upon which our STARS report is based. We report values for the University Park campus, and for Penn State Law, which is located on the UP campus.
For headcount of employees, we totaled the following categories to avoid double-counting student employees: no. of full-time; no. of academic part-time; no. of non-academic/non-student part-time; no. of casual/non-student part-time.
To compute FTE of employees we used the IPEDS formula = #FT employees + (#PT employees * 1/3).
Number of on-campus residents was provided by the Office of Residence Life.
Number of residential employees was not available; assumed zero because likely very small.
Count of academic departments includes departments, and colleges and schools that lack departments (e.g., Law, Nursing); these were each counted as one department.
