A brief description of the energy management or benchmarking program:

Penn State utilizes Enterprise Energy Management Suite for tracking of energy commodity purchasing and energy consumption. It integrates utility rates, the handheld meter reading system, manual data reads and real-time meter data collection for comprehensive analysis of Penn State's energy profile. The system is used for billing, benchmarking, trend analysis, demand response, energy savings project development and project tracking.

Penn State has set Greenhouse Gas reduction goals and Energy Performance goals. In 2014, Penn State joined the Dept. of Energy's Better Building Challenge committing 28 million square feet to a 20 percent energy intensity reduction by 2025.

Penn State owns and operates its Water Utility System. Water withdrawal is metered at the wells. Water use is also metered at the building level. This data is utilized within the EEMSuite for internal billing, tracking building water use, establishing baselines, benchmarking, use analysis and to inform reduction projects and initiatives.
