The Equity, Education, and Student Success Council guides the College’s policy and planning related to maintaining equity and excellence in all aspects of instructional and student success programs, which fosters a climate of inclusiveness and support. The Council will pay specific attention to ensuring that all students receive the opportunities and support they need to develop a strong foundation for life-long, resilient learning, career success, and global citizenship.

The Chief Diversity Officer will provide leadership to the District in the strategic planning, identification, and implementation of its Districtwide diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility, and antiracism (DEIAA) policies, procedures, and programs; serves in an advisory role to the District’s executive team and works collaboratively with District stakeholders; provides occasional guidance to various areas of the District as requested or required to enhance DEIAA functions.

Palomar College has adopted an action plan to support our African-American/Black community and to further Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion in the District. These action items were developed collaboratively with Palomar students, staff, and faculty and with input from our Umoja Scholars. We are committed to these measurable Calls to Action and will work diligently to implement them as we develop a culture of Antiracism at Palomar. The information provided below shows the annual progress Palomar College is making on the goal of building an antiracist framework. This work is collaborative and involves staff, faculty, and students with the ultimate goal of furthering Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion in the District. https://www.palomar.edu/deiaa/

The ‘IDEAAs for All’ course is a Palomar tailored made ‘equity 101’ course for all employees. People that do complete the full 5 module course will get a certificate and be added to a website hosting all our certified Palomar ‘Champion of IDEAAs’. This course was created with the collaboration of many members of our own Palomar community. Ranging from our own: Chief Diversity Officer (CDO), Educators for Equity Diversity and Cultural Consciousness (EEDCC), Dean of Student Success, Equity and Counseling Service, Equity SLO Task Force, Curriculum Committee, Disability Resource Center (DRC), Classified Staff, Equal Employment Opportunity, and Compliance (EEOAC) and Professional Development (PD). https://www.palomar.edu/pd/
