Name or title of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome:
Comet's Closet

A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome that outlines how credit criteria are met and any positive measurable outcomes associated with the innovation:

Palomar has reduced the amount of materials sent to landfills while providing benefits to the local community, campus and our students have created Comet's Closet. It is located in FD-4, a large classroom where Fashion Design and Merchandising students work on projects together. It was originally launched in 2018 and offers a selection of daytime and business wear for men and women—all free to students. It is stocked by donations and available to students on Tuesday and Wednesday or by appointment— so it can provide students with clothing.  During the last school year, Comet’s Closet has been open on Tuesdays and Thursdays. We brought a few rolling racks to the Student Union area from 10am to 4pm.  On average we had 10 to 12 female students leave with a piece or two.  Male shoppers were much less at 4 to 5 men leaving with a piece or two.

These numbers are for this semester Spring 2024
