Waste Audit
A brief description of the campaign, including how students and/or employees were engaged:
We held our first waste audit since 2009 in the Spring of 2018, and students were involved in all aspects of sorting and collecting.

We have now instituted composting in more buildings for kitchen scraps, and have a mug library to combat our 8000lbs of disposable coffee cups

A brief description of the campaign, including how students and/or employees were engaged (2nd campaign):
We held a campus wide drive with employees to restock our campus food bank and to contribute to our local emergency shelter. At Pacific, food security is part of sustainability. One event yielded over 2000lbs of food.
A brief description of the measured positive impact(s) of the campaign (2nd campaign):
Multi dept engagement in food security, better connection to local shelter for homelessness and hunger week celebrated every November.
1200lbs of food donated directly to emergency shelter.

There is collaboration between Aramark (our dining services) and the Center for a Sustainable Society to provide a reusable mug library. This was introduced and data from our waste audit was presented to show how these reusable mugs could make a difference.
