A brief description of the themed semester, year, or first-year experience:
PLU offers a first-year experience that is developed to create sustained communities throughout the first year. This begins by having students be grouped in new student orientation based on the writing seminar they have chosen to take. In the opposite semester that the writing seminar is taken, the same group of students take an investigative inquiry class that is “specially designed for First-Year students, will introduce you to the methods and topics of study within a particular academic discipline or field.”
This program allows students to maintain a stable group of students with which they have at least one class throughout the entire first year.
