A brief description of how sustainability is included in new employee orientation:
The Sustainability Office, Campus Recycling, Transportation Services, Community Engagement & Leadership and other departments participate in - and provide - several new employee orientation activities. One activity is University Day, a campus-wide event to kick off the new academic year. The audience is primarily employees, with special emphasis on new employees. The event is open to all, and University leadership heavily promote attendance. Sustainability related programs featured include our Sustainability Advocates network, Green Office Certification, Green Lab Certification, newsletter signups and general education about sustainability and materials management resources. The Sustainability Office's extremely popular annual succulent plant giveaway is part of this event to promote Green Office Certification.

Another event, The Beaver Community Fair, targets all newcomers to OSU but primarily emphasizes student engagement and promoting waste reduction, recycling, student job recruitment and joining sustainability-related clubs and groups.

The Office of Human Resources maintains the New Employee Resources website that includes a link to the Sustainability website. Key is the Onboarding Guide that helps existing OSU employees welcome incoming employees. This Guide includes a link and description to sustainability work at OSU, in the Engagement Opportunities section: https://hr.oregonstate.edu/new-employees/onboarding-guide

The Sustainability Office maintains content and targeted outreach for new employees. This information is distributed to new employees along with information about benefits and other general information. https://hr.oregonstate.edu/new-employees/about-osu
