A brief description of notable policies or programs to support non-traditional students:
The Educational Opportunities Program (EOP) provides a welcoming environment that supports the full development of the personal and academic potential of students who have traditionally been denied equal access to higher education. Since 1969, EOP has served Oregon State University students from historically underrepresented backgrounds, including but not limited to students of color, low-income students, first-generation in college and undocumented or DACAmented students. EOP representatives work with students from all over Oregon who might be considering college. EOP can arrange for groups of students to visit campus — a great chance to see what college life is really like and talk with current students about their lives and plans. EOP also assists students who might otherwise be denied admission to the university. If a student can demonstrate a potential to succeed at the university, EOP will carefully review all documentation and support an appeal for admission. EOP exists to help students who may not have had the chance to excel in the past but who could succeed if given the opportunity to try.
Support for Students through EOP:
-Assistance through the admissions process and locating financial resources
-An additional orientation to Oregon State University through our Bridge Program
-Academic and personal counseling
-Courses to help review or fill in gaps in math, reading and writing
-Guidance finding jobs and internships and preparing résumés and cover letters
-Access to and assistance in applying to scholarships
-Find more information about our services throughout our website.
