Gross Scope 1 GHG emissions from other sources Metric tons of CO2 equivalent Metric tons of CO2 equivalent
Gross Scope 2 GHG emissions from imported electricity Metric tons of CO2 equivalent Metric tons of CO2 equivalent
Gross Scope 2 GHG emissions from imported thermal energy Metric tons of CO2 equivalent Metric tons of CO2 equivalent
Total Metric tons of CO2 equivalent Metric tons of CO2 equivalent

Figures needed to determine net carbon sinks:
Performance year Baseline year
Third-party verified carbon offsets purchased Metric tons of CO2 equivalent Metric tons of CO2 equivalent
Institution-catalyzed carbon offsets generated Metric tons of CO2 equivalent Metric tons of CO2 equivalent
Carbon storage from on-site composting Metric tons of CO2 equivalent Metric tons of CO2 equivalent
Carbon storage from non-additional sequestration Metric tons of CO2 equivalent ---
Carbon sold or transferred Metric tons of CO2 equivalent Metric tons of CO2 equivalent
Net carbon sinks Metric tons of CO2 equivalent Metric tons of CO2 equivalent

A brief description of the carbon sinks, including vendor, project source, verification program and contract timeframes (as applicable):
The 98 metric tons of CO2e were purchased from The Bonneville Environmental Foundation. The project associated with this purchase is the B6 Dairy Farm BioFactory Project. The B6 Dairy Farm BioFactory Project consists of the installation of anaerobic digester and generator at the B6 (Bettencourt 6) dairy farm in Idaho. The digester captures methane-rich biogas emanating from the anaerobic decay of the dairy manure that would have otherwise been emitted into the atmosphere. The project also produces renewable electricity from the biogas produced in the digester. The carbon credits from this project are derived from the capture of methane.

On-site composting includes local processing of pre- and post-consumer food waste from campus as well as landscape debris ad some animal bedding. Not all on-site composting is accounted for in our emissions calculations yet. This will change as data tracking and acquisition improve.

Adjusted net Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions:
Performance year Baseline year
Adjusted net GHG emissions Metric tons of CO2 equivalent Metric tons of CO2 equivalent

Start and end dates of the performance year and baseline year (or three-year periods):
Performance year Baseline year
Start date July 1, 2019 July 1, 2007
End date June 30, 2020 June 30, 2008

A brief description of when and why the GHG emissions baseline was adopted:
FY08 data were used for this STARS credit because it is the first fiscal year for which we have complete data at the level of granularity requested in the fields above.

Figures needed to determine “Weighted Campus Users”:
Performance year Baseline year
Number of students resident on-site
Number of employees resident on-site
Number of other individuals resident on-site
Total full-time equivalent student enrollment
Full-time equivalent of employees
Full-time equivalent of students enrolled exclusively in distance education
Weighted Campus Users

Adjusted net Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions per weighted campus user:
Performance year Baseline year
Adjusted net Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions per weighted campus user Metric tons of CO2 equivalent Metric tons of CO2 equivalent

Percentage reduction in adjusted net Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions per weighted campus user from baseline:

Gross floor area of building space, performance year:
962,070.49 Gross square meters

Floor area of energy intensive building space, performance year:
Floor area
Laboratory space 402,851.28 Square meters
Healthcare space Square meters
Other energy intensive space 10,609.52 Square meters

EUI-adjusted floor area, performance year:
1,778,382.58 Gross square meters

Adjusted net Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions per unit of EUI-adjusted floor area, performance year:
0.06 MtCO2e per square meter

Data source(s) and notes about the submission:
Difference in emissions between Performance Year and Baseline Year are attributed to many factors including: availability of data, refinement in data tracking and acquisition and rapid increases in campus population and square footage.
