A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome:
OSU has a new mobile electric vehicle charger powered by solar power and advanced battery technology, built within the platform of the OSU Solar Trailer. In 2013, the Sustainability Office and Student Sustainability Initiative took the innovation within the OSU Solar Trailer even further by contracting with local company Shift Electric Vehicles to install an on board Level 2 electric vehicle smart charger. This charger greater utilizes the Trailer's improved battery capacity and innovatively promotes more sustainable transportation.
Used by off-grid events such as the Oregon Country Fair, the Level 2 charger on the Solar Trailer allows event-goers to travel to remote events with their electric vehicles rather than fossil fuel powered vehicles.
