The OIT Sustainability Plan was developed based on interviews with faculty, staff, administrators, and student with consultation from members of the Klamath Falls community.

The Plan outlines short and long term goals for different areas, including Academics; OIT Campus Community; Energy; Facilities; Food; Klamath Falls Community; Procurement; Landscape; Research; Transportation; Waste; and Water.

In 2009, an assessment of Sustainability Progress was conducted and resulted in a analysis of how many of the Sustainability goals had been reached. The Sustainability Assessment is available at http://www.oit.edu/sustainable-oit/resources. This assessment method has been retired in order to switch to using STARS as a more comprehensive tracking and reporting tool.
