A brief description of how the institution ensures compliance with green building design and construction guidelines and policies:
As a state entity and member institution of the Oregon University System, OIT is required to follow ORS 276.900 - 276.915, which states that "It is the policy of the State of Oregon that facilities to be constructed or purchased by authorized state agencies be designed, constructed, renovated and operated so as to minimize the use of energy resources and to serve as models of energy efficiency." The Oregon University System must also follow State Executive Order EO-00-07, which covers standards for siting, design, construction, operation and maintenance of state buildings and state leased buildings. See the following for more information: http://www.oregon.gov/DAS/FAC/docs/1256010.pdf?ga=t
The building square footage above includes both wings of the Center for Health Professions, the Student Village, and Owens Hall (rennovated in 2010).
