Internship positions are announced during fall quarter and students submit an application with their first and second choice positions listed. Through a competitive process, students are chosen for a position.
A brief description of the formal training that the student educators receive (1st program):
Interns receive a 3-part training sequence that covers "why sustainability education is important at OIT;" "knowing your audience;" and "resources to use for presentations." Students are then obligated to participate in 3 "education hours" per term either making presentations or engaging with other students at the Sustainability Table.

The Sustainability Internship Program is coordinated by two OIT faculty, one supported by the Provost's Office and one by the Oregon Renewable Energy Center.
